Let’s save HCMC.

HCMC has been there for us - now it’s our turn to help support HCMC. Take action between now and May 18 to save HCMC, the last public safety-net hospital in the upper Midwest.

Ways you can take action:

🤳🏼 MAKE A VIDEO

Everyone has an HCMC story. Maybe you or your child was born there, your first job was at HCMC, or your loved one received life-saving care there. Legislators need to hear your story to reground in why it’s so important to preserve and stabilize HCMC. One of the most effective ways to do that is by making a video.

  1. Film yourself vertically on your phone. Your background doesn’t matter much but try to be in a quieter space so the focus can remain on you and your story. 

  2. Introduce yourself! “Hi neighbors, my name is [first name] and I live in [neighborhood]. 

  3. Share your story. Here are some prompts to help you get started:

    • Why does HCMC matter to you? What life or medical experiences have you or your loved ones had at HCMC and how did the care you receive impact you? 

    • Why is preserving public healthcare important to you right now?

    • Or, be creative and tell us your story in your own way.

  4. End with an ask. You could ask your neighbors to make a video and share their own stories or ask legislators to keep up the fight to save HCMC. 

  5. Upload your story to social media: Twitter/X, BlueSky, Facebook, or Instagram. And don’t forget to tag your legislators!

  6. Make sure to add: #MyHCMCstory to your post.

We’ll make sure this petition gets sent to legislators who are deliberating Hennepin County’s 1% sales tax proposal. Every signature further strengthens the case for saving HCMC so share with friends, family, and coworkers! Sign the petition.

Some people prefer writing their story - and that’s an option here too. Using the video prompts, write a post about why saving HCMC is important to you. Don’t forget to share it with your friends and followers on social media. And make sure to add: #MyHCMCstory to your post.

Oftentimes, the best work we can do is with people we’re already in relationship with. Check in with your friends to see if they know what’s happening at HCMC and share why it’s so important that we do all that we can to support legislators in saving HCMC. You can film a video together, support one another in writing HCMC-related stories, go to a rally together, or talk to other friends about HCMC.
